Uh oh,
you found my outdated page. You would think after having my own site for what, at least 7 years now that I would know something about making a website. Ha! My specialty is still the hardware side of it all.
I think I will try to get in here and add more content. Once in a while I like to write and I can write to some length. Not book length mind you, just article length. Check out my latest (as of May 2012) on Apple.
Why
EvilTechMonkey? Well, because it was hard to
come up with something
original
and at least here I can say how I really feel about Micro$oft
<insert evil laugh here>.
More than 90% of what you find here has been done in Linux with
programs like VIM, the Mozilla Composer and NVU. The only exception
is the
"Concert" link and
the original page layout. Though I am sure the page layout was probably
done from scratch. I am
gradually reworking that as I learn more.
The following links are random things I've done. You'll find power
supply modifications, watercooling, and other generally geeky stuff
including other pictures of my computers and perhaps even things
unexpected.
"Heavy
Objects"
details a little trick I learned from a fellow geek. It involves wiring
a water pump directly to the power supply switch of a PC so that when
the switch is flipped the pump is running before the computer is even
on. Of course you can do the same trick on a non-switching power supply
but it would involve having the pump running as soon as you insert the
power cord.
"Oh, the
memories"
will bring you a short review done on my 256MB Ultra II Compact
Flash card from Sandisk. All I can say is it's fast! I would recommend
the Ultra series or any other "high speed" series flash cards to camera
owners.
"Propulsion"
gives you a basic overview of a water reservoir used in one of my two
watercooled computers. What is all this watercooling I speak of? Go
check things out to learn more.
"My
Machines"
can only be described as complete geek. Really, how many
other
people like taking pictures of their computers? Updated as of August
2005. Maybe I will work on that tonight! I think I will leave the original page for the history and humor and create a new machines page.
"Ride
Hard!" is
another one of my new toys. An indoor bike trainer that
interfaces with the computer for quite the workout. Check it out if
you're a cyclist. I look forward to using it for at least the next few
winters!
The other links point you to a few sites I'd recommend. Userfriendly.org is
simply one of the best geek comics available. Of course that was before 2006. Now it's all about XKCD! DangerDen
is an Oregon based company specializing in watercooling products for
computers. Air1 is an
awesome Christian radio station that is available all over the U.S. and
around the world via their site.
Enjoy the content.

Obviously not everything works just yet. This page is very much a work
in
progress!! Click around, explore, and don't tell your parents. More
will come
along soon.
Ha, I used to own a Mac Mini and I was even excited about it. Man, that thing was boring. Except for maybe that marble game it had but really, that was it!
